Barrett Fox is co-founder and creative director at COCO Studios, a San Francisco startup dedicated to making the web a visual and collaborative experience. COCO is mixing expressive, interactive 3D animation and motion graphics with the raw materials of the internet to create new ways of seeing and sharing information and ideas.
Barrett’s 15 year career spans a wide array of 3D animated projects from some of the earliest examples of real-time 3D characters on Web pages to animating characters with marker-less facial motion capture to videogame production modeling. He served as content director of Intervista Software creating real-time 3D information visualization on the Web. He then co-founded the 3D animation & visualization studio, infoplasm which later joined Eyematic Interfaces. There he served as producer/director of animations demonstrating a wide array of new animation technologies for video, web and mobile deviices.
Concurrently with his professional career, Barrett has taught university animation courses for 10 years. This has given him the opportunity to intensively study acting for animators through advanced 3D character animation workshops at the Academy of Art and San Francisco State University. In addition to numerous magazine articles on 3D animation, Barrett is the author of the book, 3DS Max 6 Animation: CG Filmmaking from Concept to Completion.
